Assessing Land-use Suitability of Existing Inclusionary Zoning Projects in the Australian Capital Territory

Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) is a land-use planning initiative taken by governments that either mandates or provides voluntary incentives to achieve proportion of affordable housing in development project. This research aims assess the suitability current IZ projects Australian Capital Territory (ACT) comparing them with study findings. A multi-criteria analysis conducted first understand desirable land features while considering sustainable objectives. Four criteria are selected, including socioeconomic integration, access jobs, public transport, green space, and compliance zoning rules. Results indicate relatively low IZ. We conclude assessed across different driven market-based provision approach, which highly relies on private sectors. Nevertheless, recognises need for improving ACT through greater collaboration between state government, federal property sector.
